My story
My journey has been anything but ordinary. I’m what some would call a jack of all trades, and a master of none.
Originally from Southern Vermont, I grew up immersed in nature hunting, fishing, foraging learning to live within the seasons, and the cycles of our natural world. Growing up this way taught me the importance of having a relationship with the natural world and the food I put in my body.
Winters were spent in the restaurants honing my cooking skills under the guidance of a few local chefs. I spent my summers learning trades such as Carpentry, Painting, Stone Masonry and Landscape Design.
At 21 my journey west began, Colorado is where I landed, working with a skilled outdoorsman learning to pack horses and pony mules through the back country. That later transitioned into managing a high-end Hunting retreat in the beautiful rolling sandhills of Nebraska.
All these things were great realized and accomplished dreams of mine; however, I decided professional hunting guide was not the end for me. It was actually just the beginning; there was a knowing that I had much more to offer the world.
It was time for me to give back, you see while growing up in Vermont in nature wasn’t a luxury, it was a necessity. Growing up in a broken family full of mental health, and addiction issues the outdoors were where I could escape to, I could feel, sit still and just listen. Building a relationship with the natural world was the catalyst for growing out of the small-town Character Matt Stone who was destined to repeat the cycles he was born into.
I found myself in Idaho 7 years ago, living in a wooden truck camper I built from the ground up, working now as a wilderness therapy guide. 2 weeks on 2 weeks off I was mentoring at risk youth, teaching them survival skills, like bow drilling, shelter building, allowing the natural world to teach lessons, build character and strength in my clients.
For five years I worked closely with therapists, studied psychology not only to help my clients but myself continue to learn and grow. Over that time, I immersed myself deeply in the study and practice of Kundalini Yoga and its philosophies, As well as the art of Massage and Reiki Energy work.
Present day, I’m a Licensed Massage Therapist, small business owner, Kundalini Yoga Teacher active outdoors man, long distance trail runner, Athlete, among many other things. My stories far from over and I’d love for you to be a part of it.
